Mr. Lespecial has long since discarded those emotions and bonds so many of us thought we had made with him over the years. Unfortunately, it appears that no thoughts or words were shared, no well wishes to The Woodlands or to Houston. I must admit that as extremely excited as I was to finally see him in concert, I was even more disappointed after the concert that I attended. There is an emotional side to music, for the one who makes it and the one who hears it and especially when that connection is able to happen in the same room, appreciation for the artist and for the fan are created and an incredible bond is made. However, and probably moreso with recording artists, the connection to the fans usually remains intact. No communication whatsoever, except for an email received two days prior to the event from the CWMP stating how lucky we are to see him and reads on further to state Mr. Lespecial's list of demands for the attending public (no alcohol served, no standing up after 7:50, etc...). In this day and age, I understand that as fame and fortune increase, film and recording artists typically put themselves on pedestals and mostly tend to exit the world of the emotionally and physically rational. The only other form of communication we were exposed to were about 12 songs, 2 of which were popular and all of which were sung incoherently. Where was "Into the Mystic", "Someone Like You", or "Have I Told You Lately". No encore performances, a regimented start, and evidently a pre-determined finish time.
